NVIDIA’s recently launched graphics cards have enhanced efficiency, enabling the highest performance within the permitted TGP range, including the powerful GeForce RTX 4090. Alongside Intel’s Core i9-13900HX processor, a mechanical keyboard utilizing Cherry MX switches, a large 99 Wh battery, a speedy 240 Hz 16:10-16 inch display, and compatibility with the Commodore Aquaris stationary water cooling device, the Orion-book emphasizes its status as the ultimate blend of superior performance and portability.
INTEL CORE I9-13900HX
The Intel Core i9-13900HX is a cutting-edge computing behemoth with an impressive 24 CPU cores, comprising of 8 power-optimized Performance-cores and 16 efficiency-optimized Efficient-cores. With the capability to handle up to 32 threads simultaneously, it stands out as a top-tier performance package. Additionally, its single-core speeds can reach up to 5.4 GHz, making it an exceptional choice for gaming enthusiasts. This high-end processor is designed with a standard TDP (Thermal Design Power) of 55 watts, although in order to unleash its full potential, it frequently needs to surpass this limit. This is a common requirement for all CPUs. Here lies the differentiation point where the quality of a laptop’s cooling system determines its actual performance. While ultrathin laptops can only maintain high clock speeds for a brief period of time, the Orion-book features enhanced cooling capabilities that allow it to sustain a power consumption of up to 100 watts. This effectively doubles the standard TDP, ensuring a consistently exceptional performance for demanding tasks such as content creation and gaming.
NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4090
Is the Orion-book the swiftest gaming laptop running Linux currently available? This cutting-edge device from Commodore is the first to incorporate the newly released RTX 40 graphics cards for notebooks. However, that’s not all there is to it. While NVIDIA defines various levels of performance (known as Total Graphics Power, or TGP), only the most rapid versions are utilized in the Orion-book. The ultimate model, the GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop, is a technological marvel. With a TGP of up to 175 watts, it not only claims the title of the quickest laptop GPU on the market, but also outperforms its direct forerunner, the RTX 3080 Ti, by approximately 50%! In terms of efficiency, the RTX 4090 Laptop leaves similarly fast desktop graphics cards in the dust. Both the new GeForce RTX 4070Ti (285 watts) and the previous generation’s top tier model, the RTX 3090 (350 watts), consume about 63% to 100% more power for roughly the same level of performance! The performance specifications of the GeForce RTX 4080 are likewise impressive. With its 12 GB of GDDR6 graphics memory and identical power consumption, it falls approximately 20% behind the mobile top tier model, but still manages to surpass the 3080 Ti Laptop by about 30% and even outshine its immediate predecessor, the RTX 3080, by roughly 50%.
